Wireless Vehicle to Vehicle Charging using Inductive Power Transfer Technology

Abstract

The advancement of technology in vehicle charging systems has made it possible to incorporate V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) charging as a viable option. With the continuous progress in wireless power transfer, communication protocols and smart grid integration, V2V charging has become a promising solution for electric vehicles, the sending vehicle (known as the transmitter) transfers power wirelessly to the receiving vehicle (known as the receiver). This transfer typically occurs through electromagnetic induction or resonant coupling, where coils in both vehicles generate a magnetic field that enables energy transfer. V2V charging can promote energy sharing and efficiency within a network of EVs, as vehicles with excess energy can contribute to charging others with lower battery levels. Overall, V2V charging presents an innovative approach to expand charging capabilities and enhance the usability of electric vehicles, contributing to the growth and adoption of sustainable transportation.
