Smart Grid and the Internet of Things (IoT) are riveting topics of the modern era. Integrating them makes it even more compelling. The power transmission process as a whole will increase its resiliency in consequence. And we will be one step closer to the era of Smart cities. This paper proposes a prototype of a Grid management system that converts any traditional Power Grid into a Smart Grid. The Smart Grid Management System has the features: a power monitoring system, billing system, theft detection system, remote switching, personal and grid power monitoring websites, cloud storage, dynamic graphs, and emergency backup power supply. The system uses sensors to measure the power consumed and current through a load. The readings are sent to the cloud that can be displayed on personal and grid websites. Remote switching features are added to control the continuation of the power supply for both users and grid members. In-house displays are installed in each unit for users to be conscious of their power usage. The system also detects and alerts if there is any illegal power usage. Finally, the system has a backup solar power supply in case of power shortage or outage.
