A New Nonisolated Bidirectional DC-DC Converter with High Voltage Conversion Ratio

Abstract

This article presents a new nonisolated bidirectional dc-dc converter (BDC) with high voltage conversion ratio and continuous input current. High voltage gain is achieved without using an isolation transformer or coupled inductor. The proposed converter is capable of providing high step-up gain (>10) while the duty ratio exceeds 0.5. Operating at a relatively lower duty ratio avoids drawbacks like inductor core saturation and switch conduction loss. Operating principle is discussed to explain bidirectional power flow. Steady state analysis is performed to derive the voltage conversion ratios of the proposed converter. A comparative analysis between the proposed topology and existing BDC topologies is presented in this article. Simulation results are presented to validate the steady state performance of the proposed converter.
