Introduction: Undoubtedly, distance education has experienced remarkable growth, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the educational resources employed in this mode. There is an ongoing debate about whether the tools currently available to students are capable of stimulating a desire for self-learning and promoting self-discipline among learners. In this context, it becomes essential to analyze the trends, challenges, and opportunities that pervade the landscape of distance education, as well as to evaluate its impact on the formation of students.Rationale: Emphasizing the importance of using multiple digital resources in the construction of an increasingly personalized distance education that caters to the profile of each student, thereby reducing the barriers faced by students in this mode. Objective: Emphasizing the use of tools and educational resources in the construction of learning in distance education to instill in students the desire to use these tools as aids in their learning journey.Method: With the increasing number of students in the EAD (distance education) mode, it became necessary to introduce new tools to ensure that all students received a quality education, producing competent professionals for the job market. This led to the creation of learning environments, which are fundamental to the teaching process of students. In these environments, students have access to e-books, forums, slides, activities, and learning-generating situations. The goal is to develop professionals capable of dealing with such a volatile market. There are various resources that can be used by educators in constructing learning, such as gamification, the creation of mind maps, and storytelling, resources still relatively unknown in the world of EAD.It is increasingly necessary for educators to understand the importance of open educational resources, which aim to promote collaboration and the development of new teaching methodologies. Thus, students will be able to understand the importance of learning, cooperation, and co-authorship.These are environments that enable the creation of materials in an increasingly accessible manner, allowing multiple students to access them when needed, ensuring educational advancement and reducing geographical and economic barriers. Conclusion: Many erroneously believe that the quality of distance education is inferior to traditional in-person education, but these tools can be much more effective. We must keep in mind that each student learns differently; some excel with visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learning, or even a combination of these styles. Therefore, we should not limit the use of media resources to merely presenting videos or slides to students.Distance education emphasizes the personalization of teaching according to each individual's needs.
