Polarization Independent Add-Drop Filter

Abstract

A compact polarization independent add-drop filter made with silicon nitride waveguides and using conversion to higher order modes instead of splitting or rotating polarizations is presented. It consists of two microrings in series and provides a wide operating bandwidth of 20 nm.
