Better Orchestration for SLO-Oriented Cross-site Microservices in Multi-tenant Cloud/Edge Continuum

Abstract

Edge computing extends the cloud computing paradigm by deploying small data centres close to the user. It promises lower latency due to this proximity, provided that the applications run are carefully matched to the smaller resources of the edge data centres. However, a holistic management of the resulting cloud-edge continuum that takes into account the constraints of the edge nodes and the needs of complex applications is not yet available.
