To treat and manage any disease, medical science greatly depends on compounds which are pharmacologically active (drugs). The inherent benefits and effectiveness of any drug depends on how they are being delivered or administered. Different properties like absorption, metabolism, distribution, therapeutically effective duration, toxicity and pharmacokinetics of a drug are affected by drug delivery methodologies. With development of new drugs, new materials and chemistries for target-specific and effective drug delivery is needed. In this regard, development of new nanomedicinal formulations has attracted huge interest due to their novel properties such as high surface area for improved drug-loading capacity and increased drug tissue bioavailability.
