3-D-Printed Wideband Circularly Polarized Twisted Trapezoidal Dielectric Resonator Antenna

Abstract

A three-dimensional (3-D)-printed wideband circularly polarized (CP) twisted trapezoidal dielectric resonator (DRA) is investigated. It is excited by a microstrip line through a 45°-inclined slot in the ground. A trapezoidal region is removed at the DRA bottom, improving the impedance match. To enhance the axial ratio (AR) bandwidth, the DRA is twisted around the z-axis. The simulated impedance and AR bandwidths are given by 39.9% (2.21–3.21 GHz) and 27.0% (2.31–3.03 GHz), respectively.
