Hybrid energy storage power allocation strategy to smooth out wind power fluctuations

Abstract

For the hybrid energy storage system (HESS) power allocation problem used in smoothing wind power fluctuations, a hybrid energy storage power allocation strategy based on the sparrow search algorithm (SSA) to optimize the variational modal decomposition (VMD) parameters is proposed. First, the wind power is smoothed by exponential smoothing method based on wind power grid-connected criteria, and the accurate reference power of hybrid energy storage is obtained. Secondly, the modal number K and the quadratic penalty term α are substituted into VMD after SSA optimization to decompose the hybrid energy storage target power, and obtain multiple frequency band components, which are divided into high frequency components and low frequency components and assigned to hybrid energy storage. Finally, a fuzzy controller is designed to optimize the SOC of the energy storage device and adjust its SOC in real time to keep it in a suitable range.
