Building is a sector with a very important impact on the environment being one of the sectors with the greatest importance in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of countries. The continuous degradation of our planet has meant that the concept of sustainable development has become the axis of global and national economic policies. In the Andalusian Community, the building sector has had an important weight in GDP, reaching 8.5% of regional Gross Value Added and 5.2% of employment (12.5% GDP for Spain as a whole). Although these values are not so high at present, we should not underestimate the importance of this sector and the influence on a more or less sustainable development as the economic recovery of the sector occurs. In 2014, Decree Law 1/2014, of March 18, was published, regulating the Program to Promote Sustainable Building in Andalusia. With this background, and after almost 10 years since its publication, it is interesting to make a diagnosis of its level of implementation and the level of knowledge and training of the technicians of the Andalusian public administrations in this regard. This paper is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Agenda 2030 numbers 5, 8 and 10. Keywords: sustainable building; public procurement; Andalusia
