Education is always side by side with changes or developments of the times so that improvements and changes towards the better have become common demands, the presence of a leader like that is highly coveted by all parties, a leader who is able to translate the vision, mission and goals of education and is able to implement them through strategies -the strategy he created. From the results of the identification there is a problem that the teacher's performance is not optimal because there are some that have not been implemented properly, including not implementing interpersonal relationships such as developing positive attitudes of students, fostering enthusiasm in learning and interacting in the classroom. The focus of the problem is what is the role of the principal's leadership in improving teacher performance. To describe the role of the principal's leadership in improving teacher performance. This research uses qualitative research with a descriptive research design. The data collection technique is car ied out through observation, interviews and documentation. the benefit of this research is to make a positive contribution to scientific development, especially in improving teacher performance with research being proof of the care and existence of the institution to the community members. Apart from that, the results of this research can be used as a study as a literature review in examining the role of leaders in society.
