Angle and Range Joint Estimation by Mono-pulse Processing with FDA-MIMO Radar

Abstract

The conventional FDA-MIMO suffers the problem of range-angle coupling, which makes it difficult to estimate the target parameters simultaneously. To solve this problem, a joint range-angle estimation method based on the mono-pulse FDA-MIMO radar is proposed. Base on the received signal, the proposed method utilizes the received target echo from the same transmit antenna element for angle estimation, and then uses the echo from all antennas to estimate the range. Compared with the double-pulse FDA radar, the mono-pulse FDA-MIMO radar has a similar accuracy but faster implementation in target localization.
