Pulsed eddy current (PEC) non-destructive testing has been applied to damage detection of ferromagnetic pipelines due to its precise and pollution-free characteristics. Due to the complex environment in the oil well, the signal-to-noise ratio of the response signal is low. To address this issue, this paper uses a denoising algorithm based on improved empirical mode decomposition (EMD) method to process the measured signal, and build an experimental platform for testing. The experimental result shows that this method can significantly improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the eddy current response signal and reduce the error between the measured signal and the results calculated by the analytical solution model.
