Abstract

Artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies will continue to have a profound impact on society over the next several decades. The powerful new technologies that are revolutionizing society will have a substantial ethical influence on how they both improve and hinder the quality of human existence. This will be the case regardless of whether or not they are considered beneficial. Because it is the externalization of human intellect, artificial intelligence provides us all that humanity already is in an amplified form, including both the good and the evil. There is a lot riding on the outcome. At this crucial juncture in history, we need to give serious consideration to how we may bring about this transition; otherwise, we run the danger of fostering the less desirable components of our nature rather than the more desirable ones. Today, artificial intelligence is essential to the functioning of a wide variety of industries, including healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and even the government. However, there are ethical challenges presented by AI, and as always, we need to be vigilant on these topics to guarantee that it does not result in more negative consequences than positive ones. From an ethical point of view, this chapter explores the benefits and problems of artificial intelligence from an ethical perspective.
