Abstract

A wideband ultrathin metamaterial based absorber has been proposed for microwave applications. The proposed absorber operates at X, Ku, and K bands with a total thickness of 1.797mm. The simulation shows an absorption of more than 80% from 8.8GHz to 23.3GHz and above 90% for 12.2GHz to 20.8GHz. Proposed absorber is analyzed for both TE and TM polarizations and shows a good absorption percentage in both polarizations. To better understand the structure's angle independence, oblique incidences were simulated, and the results show that the structure behaves as an absorber up to 50 degrees.
