Quasi-Single Stage DC-DC Converter Integrating DAB and Buck-Boost for Wide Output Voltage Range Applications

Abstract

In this paper, a quasi-single stage DC-DC converter integrating dual active bridge (DAB) and Buck-Boost (IDABBB) is proposed for wide output voltage range applications, which has excellent performances in terms of efficiency, cost, and power density. The DAB circuit, which operates on voltage matching all the time, achieves electrical isolation from the input source as the front-end circuit of the IDABB converter. The four-switch buck-boost (FSBB) circuit is used as the post-stage circuit, which plays a vital role in the gain of output voltage. Moreover, the secondary side switching leg is shared by DAB and FSBB circuits, which reduces the switching loss and cast. The single-phase-shift (SPS) and pulse width modulation are applied to the DAB and FSBB circuits separately to regulate the wide-range output voltage. Finally, a 1000W simulation model is built to verify the performances of the proposed IDABBB converter.
