In this chapter, some principles and procedures about the methodology of Discursive Textual Analysis (ATD) are presented, as well as our understanding of it. Since this is a methodology coined by Brazilians a little less than two decades ago, we believe that it is relevant to spread it to other countries, since in Brazil it has been receiving great acceptance, especially in the area of Science Education. Aimed at the qualitative character, the ATD seeks to break with the epistemic reductionism characteristic of Natural Science research, detaching itself from the schematism of the subject-object. Through cycles of analysis, which comprise the stages of: Unitarization, Categorization and Metatext Production, the researcher is challenged to express his creativity. As a result of the researcher's impregnation with the research corpus, understandings, and reconstructions of knowledge emerge. Finally, through the impregnation of metaphors, we indicate the ATD as a jump in free fall.
