Advances in integrated microwave photonic signal processing and sensing are presented. These include techniques for achieving closely spaced optical waveguides with low crosstalk for LIDAR, machine learning (ML) assisted beam steering in the form of neural networks that can provide on-chip phase calibration solutions to realise two-dimensional (2-D) beamforming and steering, compact integrated nanophotonic wavelength multiplexers, and high-resolution integrated photonics based sensors. These integrated photonic processors herald new capabilities for the realisation of high-performance signal processing and sensing.
