Preparation of bimetallic metal–organic frameworks for adsorbing doxycycline hydrochloride from wastewater

Abstract

This work studies the use of Cu/Co‐MOFs for the removal of doxycycline hydrochloride (DOC) in wastewater. Cu/Co‐MOFs were prepared using a solvothermal method and characterized by XRD, SEM, and TG. According to the experimental results, the maximum DOC adsorption capacity of Cu/Co‐MOFs within 5 h was 268.5 mg/g. The pseudo‐second‐order (PSO) kinetic model shows that the R 2 are all greater than 0.99, which proves that the theory DOC adsorption by Cu/Co‐MOFs is consistent with practice. According to the Freundlich isotherm model, the adsorption of DOC by Cu/Co‐MOFs is a multilayer adsorption. Thus, the results show that Cu/Co‐MOFs have practical application value in removing DOC.
