Non-Invasive Detection of Breast Cancer Using Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna

Abstract

Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna (AVA) is presented in the paper for the detection of malignant tumors in breast. The electrical characteristics of the antennas vary in the presence of the tumors. In this paper, the change in reflection coefficient characteristics of AVA antenna are analyzed to detect the tumor cells. AVA is employed in the analysis as it has a wide bandwidth and high directional radiation pattern operating at 2.42 GHz ISM band. The proposed antenna is placed on both sides of the breast, the reflection characteristics are analyzed. The presence of tumor cells causes frequency detuning in antenna reflection characteristics.
