Penerapan Metode Location Quotient dalam Penentuan Komoditas Pertanian Unggulan di Kabupaten Jember

Abstract

Determination of superior regional agricultural commodities is the first step and strategy in strengthening national agricultural development as well as efforts to achieve comparative and competitive advantages based on the concept of efficiency to face trade globalization.Agriculture in this case horticultural crops, food, plantations and livestock in Jember Regency is developing very well and there are agribusiness centers in several areas. Jember Regency owns land which is relatively fertile so that almost all agricultural commodities can be developed in this region, but the determination of the leading commodities in Jember Regency is still not well identified, therefore this study aims to analyze the various leading agricultural commoditiesin Jember Regency.This research was conducted using descriptive quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods with data collection in the form of primary data and secondary data.The data that has been collected is processed and analyzed using the Location Quotient analysis tool as a tool to determine superior agricultural commodities.The results of the location quotient analysis on food crops, horticulture, plantations and livestock commodities in Jember Regency indicate that the leading commodity of food crops is rice, the leading commodity of horticultural crops from fruit types is Siem orange and papaya, types of vegetables include long beans, chilies. large, mushrooms and watermelons, while the types of ornamental plants are palm. The leading commodities of plantation crops include rubber, coffee, cocoa and the leading commodities of livestock from large livestock are sheep and from poultry are native chickens.
