Probability of Error Analysis of Decode-and-Forward Cooperative Relaying System with Maximal Ratio Combining

Abstract

Cooperative communication is a potential technique for expanding the capacity and range between a base station and a mobile user. In this work, end-to-end performance analysis of a decode-and-forward (DF) cooperative single antenna relay with maximal ratio combining (MRC) communication system is carried out. The theoretical average probability of error (APE) expressions is derived for the proposed system and the derived results are verified with the help of Monte-Carlo simulations. The proposed cooperative MRC relaying system outperforms conventional direct transmission by ═5 dB.
