At present, aviation psychology and human factors are essential tools to guarantee the operational safety of the aerospace sociotechnical system.The origins of this discipline date back to the early years of scientific psychology, making Wundt's disciples pioneers in the sector.The objective of this study is to present some essential features of aviation psychology, to then undertake a historical journey through this field of knowledge.To achieve this goal, a review of the existing literature was carried out and a synthesis of the main contributions was made.The context where the first challenges of this science were developed stands out for its importance: incessant technological innovations, immersed in a turbulent climate of war.This war scenario of the first half of the 20th century led to the emergence of aviation psychology and oriented its object of study.
