Cloud computing delivers attractive processing and memory alternatives; however, cloud-based solutions are typically accompanied by disadvantages and limitations, including power usage, delay, security, and connectivity. Later, innovations including Fog Computing and Edge Computing are developed to overcome the drawbacks of Cloud Computing. Distributed computing is made possible by fog computing, an innovative and evolving paradigm that links the cloud to the network edges. Edge computing, which performs computation and stores closer to the point of data creation, may be capable of assisting with these problems by meeting specific requirements like lower delay or low power consumption. The goal of this article is to give a thorough review and evaluation of Cloud-Fog-Edge Computing (CFEC) simulation tools to facilitate researchers and programmers to choose best hardware for their research projects while considering different situations and solving practical issues. This investigation also closely examines several modelling techniques that are compared and discussed in order to enhance the future.
