The integration of distributed photovoltaics (PV) plants on the grid has been increasing significantly in recent years. However, there are scarcely any management systems for distributed PV plants. For the sake of convenient solar energy management, this paper presents a brief introduction to the i Solar Energy Management System (iSEMS). The key features of the iSEMS include PV power production forecasting, fault diagnosis and alarm, predictive maintenance, regular maintenance schedule, etc. With the iSEMS, the owners of distributed PV plants could easily monitor the real-time status of power plant components, and analyze operating benefits. The system has been tested in a distributed plant and it outperforms current mainstream management systems. As the iSEMS spreads, we hope the management of distributed PV plants could be easier.
