Indoor Human Activity and Vital Sign Monitoring Based on Millimeter Wave Radar

Abstract

Millimeter wave radars have been widely used in many military and civil applications. For example, they are used in missile fire-control systems, autonomous driving of cars and robots, traffic control, altimeter of unmanned aerial vehicles, airport security, and smart home among others. In these applications, it is generally appreciated that millimeter wave radars have the benefits of high-precision, high robustness again light and element changing, protection of privacy, light weight and low cost. As a result, millimeter wave radars have drawn more and more attentions in indoor human monitoring, such as positioning, activity monitoring, hand-gesture recognition, and fall detection mostly in the daytime, and breath and heart-beat monitoring mostly at night.
