Polyvinyl alcohol/montmorillonite nanocomposite coated biodegradable films with outstanding barrier properties

Abstract

A Bio-based film with transparency, flexibility, and nacre-like microstructure is designed via a dip-coating and flow-induced self-assembly method, which endows the fabricated polyvinyl alcohol/montmorillonite (PVA/MMT) coated cellulose and (propylene carbonate-co-phthalate) (PPC-P) films as a packaging materials supply with excellent gas-barrier performances, which has a great potential for food, pharmaceutical and other packaging applications.
