Hard x-ray image detectors

Abstract

Considering experiments using both synchrotrons and lasers we have been required to develop new x-ray image intensifiers having sizes considerably greater than CCD detectors and high yield in a wider spectral range, from 10 keV to 1 MeV. First, we present the compared performances of thick gold photocathode vs xenon solid photocathode in a spectral range from 5 keV to 1.3 MeV. Second, we present the results we have obtained with two x-ray image intensifiers made of 120-mm (60-mm) thin (thick) gold photocathode and hard x-ray incoming photons.
