Reconfigurable Half-Mode Corrugated Substrate Integrated Waveguide Coupler with PIN Diodes

Abstract

A reconfigurable directional coupler based on half-mode corrugated substrate integrated waveguide (HMCSIW) is proposed in this paper. Three PIN diodes are loaded between open edges of two parallel HMCSIWs to build up new channels for energy coupling. The coupling degree can be digitally controlled between 6-dB to 13-dB based on different ON/OFF states of PIN diodes. Simulated results reveal that this coupler possesses remarkable coupling degree reconfigurable capability with a wide operating band and stable quadrature outputs.
