With the continuous intervention of high technology and new media, the visual expression of the museum is also more diversified. In particular, the artistic concept of the Costume Museum is gradually changing to diversification. The "audience-centered" museum design concept came into being. This paper aims to study the virtual reality display system of the clothing museum. This paper discusses the advantages and necessity of applying virtual reality technology to museums. Secondly, the design elements of the museum's virtual reality display project are analyzed. Starting from the dissemination and educational goals of the museum, closely centering on the design concept of "audience-centered", combining specific cognition, cognitive psychology, human factors engineering and other theories, the specific three elements of audience, environment and technology analyze. Through questionnaire survey and confirmatory factor analysis, a structural equation model of audience experience was constructed, and the differences between the virtual display of cheongsam and the traditional display were analyzed in detail. Experiments show that more than 80% of the audience believe that the way of virtual display can help them better understand the exhibits. Compared with traditional exhibitions, virtual exhibitions are more favored by non-professional audiences, which can improve the audience's awareness and favorability of exhibits.
