Abstract

Taken communication networks with limited resources in practical microgrids into consideration, a communication scheme, combined with an event-triggered communication scheme and quantization technology, is designed in the distributed optimal secondary control for islanded AC microgrids to reduce communication loads. In addition, switching communication networks are considered in microgrids to enhance the flexibility and the extendibility. In comparison with the existing distributed secondary control methods, the proposed distributed control strategy based on the designed communication scheme not only achieves the frequency and voltage restoration and the optimal active power sharing, but also reduces both the communication frequency and the amount of transmitted data in networks. Moreover, the presented communication scheme can exclude the Zeno behavior. Simulation results are given to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
