This paper studies the resource allocation for the coexistence of enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) and ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (URLLC) services at a single user, which sends the data of the two services in the uplink. The basic task is to determine how many and which resource blocks (RBs) should be allocated to each service with how much power, aimed at minimizing the total number of occupied RBs, subject to the quality of service (QoS) requirements of the two services. The formulated joint power and RB allocation problem is a mixed-integer programming problem. We propose an algorithm to find the global optimal solution with low complexity. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves the optimal performance with much lower complexity than exhaustive searching, and demonstrate the behaviors of the optimal power and RB allocation policies.
