BOOK-CHAPTER

Textile-based wearable antenna for wireless applications

Abstract

In this chapter, we have designed a wearable antenna for wireless applications. Flexible antennas can be broadly classified into two types: antennas that are made from textile materials and antennas that are made from non-textile materials. Jeans substrate has been used to design the antenna. A brief introduction to various types of textile and non-textile antennas has been provided in the chapter. From the simulated results obtained for the proposed antenna, the return loss is obtained to be −29 dB at a resonating frequency of 2.45 GHz. For better performance, the antenna return loss should be less than −10 dB. The simulated results indicate that the gain of the antenna is 27 dB.
