Abstract

In this paper, a new design of a reconfigurable antenna based on spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPPs) antenna parity mode switching is proposed. The antenna just uses one PIN diode realize the switching between omnidirectional radiation pattern and directional radiation pattern. For simplicity, a metal block is added in the simulation to simulate the conduction of the PIN diode, and the metal block is removed to simulate the disconnection of the PIN diode. The simulated results show that the antenna works on the omnidirectional radiation pattern within 5.52GHz-5.62GHz by switching the PIN diode off. When the PIN diode is on, the endfire radiation pattern can be obtained and its operating frequency is 5.46GHz-5.6GHz with the maximum gain 5.77dB.
