Abstract

Composites are synthesized on the basis of ZIF-8 and ZIF-67 zeolite-like imidazolate frameworks and calcium alginate (ZIF-8@CA and ZIF-67@CA). The adsorption capacity, degree of removal, and kinetics of sorption are studied for all sorbents using lead ions as an example. There is a synergistic effect between the ZIF-8 zeolite-like framework and calcium alginate providing an increased sorption capacity of the resulting composites with respect to lead ions and higher hydrolytic stability of the ZIF-67 composite with calcium alginate.
