In this work, hydroxylated g-C3N4 is synthesized by one-step hydrothermal method and the mechanism of activating PMS mediated by OH-C3N4/PMS charge transfer surface complex is proposed and verified for the first time. Based on the dual roles of PMS as surface complexing ligand and free radical precursor, PMS is activated effectively on the surface of OH-C3N4. The degradation mechanism of pollutants formed by C3N4-OOSO3− charge transfer surface complex under visible light irradiation is explored by radical quenching experiments and EPR spectrum.
