Abstract

The aim of the present study involves the preparation and characterization of chitosan loaded Indomethacin nanoparticles. The possibility to achieve a therapeutic dose was much higher by using the Prepared Nanoparticles. The prepared Indomethacin chitosan loaded nanoparticles would be capable of reducing the frequency of administration and the dose-dependent side effects associated with the repeated administration of conventional Indomethacin tablets. Out of all the prepared formulations F3 with the Indomethacin concentration of 40mg showed the highest entrapment efficiency of 81.25 % when compared to that of other formulations and the highest extent of release (79.9%). The Chitosan-NPs based controlled delivery system developed in this study would have potential applications and could serve as an optimal model to encapsulate any hydrophilic or hydrophobic therapeutic agent, vitamins, probiotics, enzeymes, flavors, fatty acids, antimicrobial agents and peptides etc.\n\nKey word:
