Contemporary Armed Conflict and Gender

Abstract

Abstract This chapter addresses the gendered effects of armed conflict and certain types of violence. The authors examine recent changes in warfare, in particular the increasingly protracted nature of war, the role of women in the military, the role of new technologies, and the impact of counterterrorism. This examination includes how these changes have affected society and women more specifically.
