A Novel Input-Parallel Output-Series High Gain DC- DC Boost Converter with Voltage-doubler Cell

Abstract

High step-up DC-DC converters are essential to be applied in a plenty of manufacturing fields, suchlike photovoltaic (PV), fuel cells, electric vehicles and other new energy power generation systems. This article introduces a novel input-parallel output-series high-step-up boost converter with a voltage-doubler cell in CCM. On the one hand, the converter can achieve 6 times the voltage gain of the established interleaved boost converter, which greatly improves the voltage gain and alleviates the current problem of insufficient boost capacity of non-isolated converters. On the other hand, the inherent structure of the converter brings the characteristics of lower input current ripple and lower switches and diodes voltage stress. This paper calculates the voltage gain and the voltage stresses across the power semiconductors, gives the analysis of the input current ripples. Finally, an experimental prototype with an output power of 250W is constructed to confirm the correctness of theoretical investigation and practical dependability.
