Abstract

This study is a bibliographic study on: Factors that influence the development of depression during pregnancy in order to present the reasons that lead pregnant women to depression during pregnancy in order to present the reasons that lead pregnant women to depression, identifying the prevalence of depressive symptoms when they develop during pregnancy and the postpartum period of great instability, due to the various physical, hormonal and psychological changes.The woman during pregnancy goes through several hormonal and mood changes, according to the evolution of pregnancy, changes in which they present depressive signs and symptoms, especially when associated with risk factors.Gestational depression can extend to postpartum, loss of interest in caring for the baby and the mildest form, unstable mood and constant crying is the most common; puerperal psychosis and the most rare and severe, causes hallucinations, delusions and manic episodes, desire to harm the baby; the chronic one, its manifestations are fatigue, loss of sleep, guilt, suicidal thoughts and last a long time.Depression is an affective disorder that has accompanied humanity throughout its history.In the pathological sense, there is the presence of sadness, pessimism, low self-esteem, which appear frequently and can be combined with each other.Medical follow-up is essential for both diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
