Abstract

This article provides information on the decentralization and competitiveness of subnational governments, as well as the inefficiency in the execution of public spending by them.On the one hand, decentralization has had a positive impact on economic growth, but on the other, the lack of competitiveness has been affecting it in the long term.For this, statistical data are shown that allow a better analysis of the spending behavior of different regions and provinces, also reflecting, among other aspects, the public services provided to the population.In this sense, it is observed that there is little capacity of subnational governments to applicate their budgets.So, this article allows delving into the discussion of different proposals to make investment spending more efficient as part of public management. of subnational governments..
