Many years ago, people could see a glorious view of the sky by looking up at the sky. However, today, many people will never be able to see the Milky Way due to increased urbanization and population in cities, which is why the desert is a good place to watch night beauties because there is no artificial lighting or urbanization. Light pollution impacts not only astronomers and night sky enthusiasts, but it has also been studied for its effects on numerous creatures and plants, and humans. One of the causes of light pollution is energy loss; consequently, energy-saving devices such as optical sensors could be employed to mitigate this pollution. Street lighting is a significant source of energy waste and light pollution at night. This chapter focuses on smart wireless sensor networks for street lighting in the context of light pollution control.
