A Compact Dual-Polarized Dipole Antenna for 5G Base Station

Abstract

A dual-polarized loop-shaped dipole antenna is designed in this paper. The proposed antenna has a compact structure for the practical application of 5G base station. It consists of a cross-loop-shaped radiator and two feeding baluns. The radiating arms of the antenna are folded downward for further miniaturization. The simulated results show that the radiation pattern of the proposed antenna is stable. The peak gain is more than 6.7 dBi in the operating bandwidth from 3.68 to 4.05 GHz. The size of the radiator is about quarter-wavelength, and the height of the antenna is only 0.145λ0.
