Design and Development of Fuzzy logic based Energy management system for an Islanded Microgrid

Abstract

Islanded Microgrids are preferred in locations, where plenty of renewable energy is available and access to the power grid is quite difficult. Maintaining power quality and reliability of supply is a challenging task. In this proposed work an academic institution is considered with various buildings operating in islanded mode. The institution has multiple power sources- solar photovoltaic panels, battery energy storage systems, and diesel generator. The planning and implementation of an islanded microgrid is done in HOMER PRO software and for the efficient working of academic institution a fuzzy-based energy management scheme has been identified and implemented using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
