Error concealment for stereoscopic video using illumination compensation

Abstract

This paper presents a novel error concealment method for stereoscopic video which makes use of the illumination changes between different views. Our goal is to improve the quality of the reconstructed macroblocks with disparity compensation prediction in a stereoscopic video coding system by compensating illumination difference between two views. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the existing method implemented in the extended H.264 CODEC for stereoscopic video coding on both PSNR and visual quality.
