Spatializing Knowledge

Thomas Fisher

Year: 2016 University of Minnesota Press eBooks Pages: 208-219   Publisher: University of Minnesota Press

Abstract

Abstract The chapter describes how human evolution along the lines of abductive thinking may occur: through the organization of knowledge according to how the world is organized spatially rather than disciplinarily. Ecosystems exist as spatial wholes and integrated patches, and it is impossible to understand or keep from damaging such systems until we conceive of them as such. Such an approach allows the human species to “grow up” and join the others with who it shares the planet.
