Abstract

Motivated by the need for a semantic web compatible and algorithmically manageable formalism for service composition in knowledge grid, a framework based on description logic reasoning is proposed to build composite services from Web services that would otherwise not be considered by service composition approaches based on semantic matchmaking of services. By reasoning over the types of individuals involved in service composition instead of those individuals, the proposed framework is also applicable to Web services that are otherwise not properly handled by approaches based on classic Al planning.
