Electrocatalysts for the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Abstract

The hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is one of the most investigated and fundamentally important electrochemical reactions in heterogeneous catalysis, whereby hydrogen protons combine with electrons at an electrode surface to form hydrogen chemisorbed species and then desorb free hydrogen gas molecules (see Figure 4.1).
