Hybrid vibrational energy harvesting using piezoelectric and magnetostrictive transducers

Abstract

We study vibration energy harvesting in an electro-mechanical system with piezoelectric andmagnetostrictive coil transducers. The mechanical resonator excited by harmonic excitation moves in two degrees of freedom. The output power is dissipated on a resistor load.We show the results of power output in two channels, piezoelectric and coil, for various frequencies. We observe a broadening of the total frequency transduction due to the hybrid structure of our harvester, which is sensitive to different modes.
