Radiographic Iodinated Contrast Media: Adverse Reactions, Premedication, and Other Considerations

Abstract

The administration of radiographic iodinated contrast media (RICM) when performing diagnostic and interventional radiologic procedures provides great benefit to patients, and its use is generally straightforward and without complication. This chapter will focus on acute adverse reactions to the intravascular administration of RICM and methods to minimize their occurrence and severity.
